Host Families - Getting to Know the Finnish Way of Life

The Host Family -Programme brings together international students and South Karelian Families. The aim is to help foreign students learn more about the Finnish culture and family life. In return, the students contribute to a greater understanding and appreciation of other cultures in the host families.

International degree and exchange students at Lappeenranta University of Technology or South Carelia Polytechnic (the Lappeenranta and Imatra branches) are eligible for the Host Family -Programme.

The programme is coordinated by the international offices of the schools and the Student Work of Lappeenranta Evangelical Lutheran Church.

You can apply to the Host Family -Programme by filling out and submitting a form on the Internet or by e-mailing it to your school's international services (link: Application for Host Family). Before you send the form, be sure to read the Host Family Guidelines carefully (link: Host Family Guidelines).

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a host family for every applicant. Families are assigned to students in order of application, taking into consideration the requests of both the families and the students. So, seize the day!

A get-together party will be organised for all of the host families and students at the beginning of the autumn and spring semesters.
